So, I heard you’re about to conquer a Whole30. Are you feeling anxious about it? Maybe a little bit overwhelmed, like you need an additional support system? Well, I’m here for you. I’ve created a Trader Joe’s Whole30 shopping list!
I’ve thrown together a list of Whole30 compliant recipes that are on my blog towards the bottom of the post. Oh, and I have also created some helpful tips which should lead to you feeling more empowered instead of anxious during your Whole30. Just keep on reading… !
A Whole30 shopping list that’ll blow the rest out of the water…
The best part of doing a Whole30 is the undeniable amount of support you will have within the community. I’m talking about strangers who just so happened to be powering through a Whole30 at the same time as you. You get to connect with them via social media, i.e. on the @whole30recipes page on Instagram.
Did you know that Whole30 has a support forum? If you have any questions about whether or not something is compliant, need more interesting recipe ideas or just want to chat with a fellow Whole30’er, you have the ability to do so! Within the forum, you will also find information about topics like Whole30 for kids, meal planning, travel and dining out, sourcing good food, etc.
My hopes are that in the process of your Whole30, whether it’s your first go around or your fifth, this Trader Joe’s Whole30 shopping list will be your go-to resource along the way.
This Whole30 shopping list has been reviewed countless times, so you can rest assured that the information provided is the best I could have made it!
Some helpful tips before looking at this Whole30 diet shopping list
1. Educate yourself and prepare accordingly
Research the menu! If you’re planning a lunch date out or heading out to a new restaurant with some coworkers or friends, look up their menu online. You can take a look at all of their options and figure out what is compliant on the menu.
What’s even better is you can call the restaurant if you have any questions or concerns about certain items. You will walk into that restaurant with a plan and executing that plan will be stress-free!
2. Seek out new, healthy food you love
If you feel like your options while cooking at home and at a restaurant are already inadequate because you don’t know what a lot of food tastes like, it’s time to get yourself reacquainted with the farmers market!
What’s so wonderful about the farmers market is you can generally ask to try a sample of any thing a vendor is selling. Have you caught yourself perusing through a menu and dismissing a rather delicious sounding salad because you don’t know what the main ingredient tastes like? Head to a market ASAP and try a bunch of new fruits and vegetables.
Afterwards, you’ll find your experience both dining in and out to be a lot more fun, exciting and less limiting. Even better, try some items you’ve never had before on the Trader Joe’s Whole30 shopping list!
3. Get friends and family on board
There is nothing better than having the support of friends and/or family members while on a Whole30. This is especially true if it is your first go around. If you’ve been invited for a night out with close friends who may poke fun at your new lifestyle, ask them if you can invite along your sister, who just so happens to be Whole30’ing with you!
Having that support system right by your side when tempted to make unwise decisions will prove to be tremendously helpful. In fact, print out a copy of the Trader Joe’s Whole30 shopping list and invite your support system to come grocery shopping with you.
I’ve also created some incredible Whole30 meal plans…

So freaking helpful! You should do more of these for different stores. Costco, Safeway, Smart & final, etc!
Hi Nikki, thank you so much- that was my intention. It’s funny you suggest that, as I’m working on a Costco one now 😉
Is the Costco one ready? This revolution I’ve started is making me nervous. Feeling unprepared!
Hi Kim, it’s so funny you ask that. I’m actually working on a Costco Whole30 list this week… I will keep you updated 😉
Seriously!! Thanks a million! Can’t wait for the next lists!
Oh, you’re absolutely welcome. I may start doing meal plans as well. I’m going to be taking a survey if that’s something that may be interesting!
How about Trader Joe’s frozen Turkey Burgers? Are they Whole30 compliant?
Hi Amy, as far as I know, those should be fine. Are they only 1 ingredient?
I’m upset, because I used this when I started Whole30 on January 2. Unfortunately, my coworker just discovered the Tuscano marinara sauce has sugar in it. 🙁 I’m not restarting, since I didn’t know until a week after using it, but you should update your document.
Hi there. I’m so sorry to hear this. The Tuscano Marinara Sauce (green can) at my local Trader Joe’s does not have sugar in it. It has: Whole unpeeled tomatoes, extra heavy tomato puree, cold pressed extra virgin olive oil, onions, herbs, garlic, salt. Are we referring to the same sauce?
Ahhh, crap. 🙁 I think the can is more red. I couldn’t find it on my first visit, so I asked a girl working, who didn’t know. So she asked someone else working… who directed to a red can. I skimmed the ingredients, but apparently not close enough until just yesterday. LOL. Sorry for confusion.
plantain chips, I have been told are out, because they are a commercially processed chip? unless you make your own..
My grandfather used to use a mandolin to thinly slice green bananas then deep fried them. Once they drained on paper towels, he put them on cookie sheets and seasoned with salt & paprika and briefly baked to crisp them up. This was my favorite childhood snack!
Yeah, that sounds incredibly delicious… thank you for sharing 🙂
What do you use the coconut cream for?
I use coconut cream in soups and stews constantly. Also, in curries. It’s an ingredient in a lot of my Whole30 recipes!
